November

Bali:

November is a quiet month on Bali before the start of the Christmas peak season. The beaches are relatively empty and any showers will soon be chased away by the sun.

This is not a good month for hiking into the mountains, where the rain clouds reduce the visibility.

Cambodia:

This is perhaps the ideal month for visiting Cambodia as the rainy season is drawing to a close, humidity is lower and the countryside is looking its most verdant. You'll find plenty of sunny weather and cool breezes at the beaches and among the temples.

The country's biggest festival, Bon Om Tuk, is held in early November or late October. It celebrates the end of the rainy season as the Tonle Sap river changes direction and heads back towards the Mekong.

Independence Day (from France in 1953) is celebrated on November 9 with colourful parades.

Hong Kong:

November is one of the best months to visit Hong Kong as the hot, wet weather of the summer has passed and the cool winter days are still a month away. The beaches and tourist attractions are all much quieter in November and it's an excellent time to do some pre-Christmas shopping.

Laos:

November is peak tourist season in Laos as it offers dry, sunny weather, warm daytime temperatures and cool nights. This is a good time to travel around the whole of the country by road or river but higher altitude spots may become chilly at night.

As the full moon appears in November the That Louang Festival brings performers and musicians to Vientiane.

Malaysia:

Kuala Lumpur is very warm with showers.

The dry season is settling into Langkawi, making November an excellent month to visit before the crowds arrive in December.

The monsoon rains arrive on the Peninsular east coast and in parts of Borneo this month so the resorts are quiet and sea travel more difficult.

Myanmar:

One of the best months to visit this country as the temperatures aren't too high and rainfall is minimal.

The Philippines

A great month to visit as the rainy season is finally over and the daily temperatures are slightly lower than average.

Singapore:

The temperature is slightly cooler this month and humidity lower but expect showers every day, some of them prolonged.

Head to Little India in October/November as the Hindu festival of Deepavali (Diwali) celebrates the victory of Light over Dark

Thailand:

November is peak season all across the country as the average temperatures are at their coolest but still very warm, sunshine is in abundance and rainfall is minimal except on the south-east coast. A great month to visit the west coast beaches, the northern hills and Bangkok.

The festival of Loy Krathong falls on the full moon day in October or November, when people head to rivers, lakes and even hotel swimming pools to float flower and candles to celebrate the end of the rainy season.

Vietnam:

An excellent month to visit Hanoi and the north, where the dry season is underway and temperatures are still pleasantly warm. In the south the rain showers are also decreasing and the daytime temperature sticks around an average of 28°C. The central coast will see plenty of showers but sunshine as well.
