March

Bali:

The wet season is drawing to a close in March and the average annual temperature moving towards its peak of 31°C. Humidity levels are also starting to drop so this is a good month the travel to Bali, especially if you favour peace and quiet on the beaches.

The end of March and beginning of April (depending on the date of the full moon) in Bali is the time for Nyepi, a major purification ritual in the Hindu calendar. The eve of Nyepi is not to be missed, as locals drive evil spirits away from their villages in colourful parades before the start of the new year. Nyepi itself is a day of silence across the island.

Cambodia:

March is a hot, dry month in Cambodia and the ideal time to forget about the country's tourist attractions and head for the coastal beaches and islands to cool down. The resorts will become less crowded this month as will Angkor, but a long walk in the blazing sunshine is not recommended.

Hong Kong:

March marks the beginning of one of Hong Kong's two high seasons as the average temperature of 21°C, little rainfall and low humidity make it an ideal month for exploring the city and its surrounding countryside.

Laos:

March sees the end of Laos' dry season as temperatures start to climb but this is still a very pleasant month to visit and much quieter in the cities of Luang Prabang and Vientiane. The rainfall in March is minimal and travel around the whole country is possible.

Malaysia:

A very warm month across the country with low rainfall.

March is an excellent month to visit the highlands and escape the heat.

Myanmar:

A good month to visit the hill stations or the coast to escape the high temperatures of the plains.

The Philippines

A dry month across the country but temperatures and humidity are climbing.

Easter/Holy Week is celebrated with a huge variety of rituals and colourful celebrations across the islands.

Singapore:

March is a hot and relatively dry month on the island but the winds are starting to drop so things can get very sticky outside the air-conditioned shops and restaurants.

Thailand:

A great month to visit Bangkok and the northern hills, although temperatures are now starting to climb as summer approaches. The beaches are generally dry and sunny in March but you may encounter a short shower.

Vietnam:

A great month for visiting the Vietnamese central coast. Hot, dry weather prevails in the south and the north is starting to warm up, but expect some short showers here.

On April 30 the country comes to a standstill and celebrates Reunification Day.
