August
Bali:
August is peak tourist season on the island as temperatures hit a steady 30-32°C, humidity dips and there is very little rain. The beaches are busier this month as tourists flock to the warm tropical seas and cool themselves in a sea breeze. The dry spell provides visitors with an excellent opportunity to explore the island's hilly interior and even take a trek up the volcanic Gunung Batur.
August 17 is Independence Day across Indonesia as people remember the country's long struggle against its Dutch rulers, which ended in 1945. Government offices and schools are closed.

August is one of the wetter months in the Cambodian calendar but rain here never lasts for longer than a couple of hours. The Angkor complex has a very different atmosphere at this time of year as visitor numbers are at their lowest and the moats full of water. The Cambodian coast is not at its best in August, and the sea can be rough if you are trying to visit the nearby islands, but you'll still see the sun.
