Day by day guide

Day 1

Transfer from your hotel to the domestic airport for your flight to PUERTO PRINCESA.

Legend attributes the name 'Puerto Princesa' to a princess-like maiden who in the early days is said to have roamed around the place on certain nights of the year. On the other hand, practical people attribute the name to the geographical advantages of the place as a seaport - naturally protected the whole year round and endowed with a depth that can accommodate any size of shipping - a royal heaven for vessels or a virtual princess of ports as thus indicated by Spanish Colonizers on the country's map.

Upon arrival at the airport, meet & greet your representative and transfer to the Microtel Hotel. After check-in, do a CITY TOUR of PUERTO PRINCESA. The city has been acclaimed several times as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines. Visit the Palawan Museum located at the Mendoza Park. Visit the Plaza Cuartel, the beautiful Immaculate Conception Cathedral, and the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre (formerly Crocodile Farming Institute) a showcase of successful conservation project. The farm breeds two endangered species found in the country including the endemic Philippine Crocodile. There is also a mini-zoo where the colourful Nicobar Pigeon, the raucous talking mynah, the elusive bearcat and other animals found in Palawan are sheltered. See the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm. In the prison without walls, inmates tend vast farms instead of idly spending time behind bars. Dinner at KA LUI'S RESTAURANT, popular for its excellent fresh seafood fare, and unique and cozy ambience where customers have to remove their shoes and sit on pillows. Return to the Microtel for overnight stay.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out of your hotel and transfer to the town of Tanabag, about 2 hours fromPuerto Princesa where you will begin your 2 - 3 hour trek in the jungle with a Picnic lunch alongside the river. Afternoon encounter and interaction with the BATAK TRIBE - a group of shy forest people. Despite constant interaction with other Palawan groups and settlers from other islands, their culture has not changed from its semi nomadic character. Trek back to the jump off point and drive to Sabang. Check in at the Daluyon Resort . Dinner is served at the hotel.

Day 3

Early morning breakfast the resort. Proceed to ST. PAULS UNDERGROUND RIVER TOUR. A World Heritage Site, this natural wonder features an 8.2-kilometer navigable Underground River, reputed to be the world's longest that winds through a spectacular cave before emptying out in to the South China Sea. Cathedral chambers, wide hallways, and interesting geological formations greet the wide-eyed visitor to the grotto hidden beneath St. Paul Mountain. At the mouth of the cave, ancient trees growing right of the water's edge frame a clear lagoon. Monkeys, large monitor lizards, and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave. Visitors can also enjoy bird watching, mountain trekking, a mangrove paddle boat tour and exploring the deeper part of the forest. Picnic lunch at the park. Return to the Daluyon Resort for Dinner.

Day 4

Early morning breakfast at the resort. Proceed to take a 5-hour journey to EL NIDO town, where you will take a 45- minute boat ride to the El Nido Miniloc Resort. El Nido is named after the edible nests of Swiftlets (Collocalia Fuciphaga) found in the crevices of its limestone cliffs. These nests, 'nido' in Spanish, are the main ingredient for the gourmet nido soup. El Nido is considered as a showcase of Palawan's geology and diverse wildlife. Its majestic limestone cliffs stand guard over clear waters, with hundreds of species of tropical fishes and corals, and three species of endangered sea turtles. El Nido's forests are host to more than 100 species of birds, a large number of which are endemic to Palawan. Lunch at the resort. After lunch, resort will provide island-hopping activities where you can visit enchanting lagoons, remote islands and mysterious caves. Return to the resort and overnight.
