North to South Vietnam tour with optional Cambodia Stopover

Tour type: Add-on - If you're planning a holiday in one of our destinations in Southeast Asia and want to get more from your holiday, an add-on tour is for you. Get a feel for the country's culture and experience some amazing sites of interest.

Travel the length of Vietnam, with the extra option of exploring the beautiful ancient wonder of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Starting in Hanoi, you will visit a number of markets, museums and pagodas. On day 5, you will fly to Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam, where you will take a romantic river cruise. By day 10, you'll be ensconced in the watery world of the Mekong Delta, just a few hours by road from Ho Chi Minh City. If a boat trip on Mekong River to visit Cai Rang floating market isn't enough to satisfy your intrigue for this region, then extend your tour to Siem Reap and take in one of the ancient historical wonders of the world, Angkor Wat.

Hanoi - Arrival

Pick up at Noi Bai airport and transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 3

Day 3 - Hanoi - Ha Long

Enjoy a morning tour to visit some of the city's attractions including the fascinating Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (except for Monday & Friday) and Quan Thanh pagoda on the shores of Truc Bach Lake. This pagoda dates from the 11th century and is said to protect this region from outside invaders. Visit the Ngoc Son temple in the centre of modern Hanoi. Drive through Hanoi's old quarter, where you will have time for shopping at the Dong Xuan market. After lunch, visit the Temple of Literature, which is regarded as the first university in Vietnam. Proceed to Ha Long bay, one of Vietnam's greatest natural wonders recognized as a World Natural Heritage site by UNESCO.

Day 4

Day 4 - Ha Long - Hanoi

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, take a cruise on the emerald green waters of Ha Long among the 3,000 spectacular limestone islands: visiting grottoes and floating village en route. The cruise ends with a fresh seafood lunch on board the boat. Back to Hanoi. After dinner, you will be offered the opportunity to enjoy a water puppet performance, a traditional performance both unique and famous in Vietnam.

Day 5

Day 5 - Hanoi - Hue

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Noi Bai airport for a morning flight to Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam. Pick up at Phu Bai airport and transfer to the city. Take a boat trip on the romantic Huong (Perfume) River to visit Hue's best-known religious site, Thien Mu, a 7-story pagoda and Minh Mang King's Mausoleum.

Day 6

Day 6 - Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An

After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 and Dong Ba market. After having lunch at a local restaurant, leave Hue in the afternoon for Da Nang. Visit Marble Mountain. Arrive in Hoi An in the late afternoon.

Day 7

Day 7 - Hoi An - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City

Have breakfast at your hotel. Visit Hoi An, a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries and see how its architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years. Take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to visit former merchants' houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colorful market. Take a boat trip on Hoai River to visit handicraft villages. Proceed to Da Nang. Then take the evening flight for Ho Chi Minh City. Pick up at Tan Son Nhat airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 8

Day 8 - Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi - Tay Ninh

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Cu Chi, passing paddy fields along the way. Here you will have the opportunity to witness how rice paper is made and to explore the amazing labyrinth of tunnels used by the guerrillas during the war. Proceed to Tay Ninh to visit Cao Dai Holy See Temple. Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City (B/L)

Day 9 - Ho Chi Minh City

Have breakfast at your hotel. Visit War museum, Reunification Palace, Historical Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post Office, Ben Thanh Market and Thien Hau Pagoda in the bustling Chinatown.

Day 10

Day 10 - Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh Long - Can Tho

After breakfast at your hotel, take a full day trip to the watery world of the Mekong Delta, just a few hours by road from Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival at around 10:00am, board a motorized boat for a journey to Cai Be floating market. See how river life goes on, trading between merchant ships and local farmers. We walk through the village streets and watch locals making manioc chips. Cruise through the secluded canals where we stop at a local house of the area to enjoy seasonal fruits and lunch before our boat takes us to the Mighty Mekong, where we will cruise to other island for walking, and to visit fruit orchards. Lunch will be arranged at Mr. Tam Ho or Mr. Ba Linh's house. Proceed to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho (B/L)

Day 11

Day 11 - Can Tho - Chau Doc

Breakfast will be arranged at your hotel. Take a boat trip on Mekong River to visit Cai Rang floating market. Proceed to Chau Doc by coach. Visit Ba Chua Su temple & Sam Mountain.

Day 12

Day 12 - Chau Doc - Phnom Penh

Have breakfast at your hotel. Take Victoria speedboat to Phnom Penh.

Day 13 - Phnom Penh

Full day city tour visiting Royal Palace - Silver Pagoda - National Museum -Local Markets and The Killing Fields.

Either depart for airport for flight to Bangkok and onward to U.K. or to Siem Reap to take in an ancient historical wonder of the world, Angkor Wat.
