One of the most beautiful islands on Malaysia's east coast, where visitors come to relax on the whitest sands, snorkel in the clearest sea and dive among a wealth of marine life. Pulau Redang is generally at its best between March and September, when you're likely to encounter flying foxes, mouse deer, wrasses and giant clams, depending on how you divide your time between land and sea.

Located 45km off the east coast, close to Kuala Terengganu, Redang is the largest of a group of nine South China Sea islands which make up a protected marine park.
Kampang Air, the main village, is surrounded by jungle-clad hills and the ideal base for a trek into the rainforest interior, but most visitors head straight for the beaches of Pasir Panjang and Teluk Dalam Kecil or take a dive trip out to the fabulous coral reefs and the historic wrecks of H.M.S. Prince of Wales and H.M.S. Repulse, which sank here at the start of World War II.
