A trip down the Mekong River on a long-tail boat takes you gliding at a gentle pace that's representative of the tranquillity of this country - by far my favourite country in Southeast Asia. We took a cruise on the Mekong and then spent a few days in Luang Prabang which is a UNESCO protected site. Every morning you'll see the saffron-robed monks appear from nowhere with bare feet to collect alms from their neighbours. The food is so interesting and the tastiest in the world. It's an amazing place which I would recommend to anyone.Lhs quote close
