A word of warning: leave any itinerary behind in the hotel when you arrive in Hong Kong. There's so much to do here that all your plans will go out the window as soon as you step onto the chaotic streets. Hong Kong is a hot, crowded and intense experience but you'll also find surprisingly tranquil spots away from the famous skyscrapers.
This Special Administrative Region on the South China Sea was a dependent territory of the United Kingdom until it was handed back to China in 1997. Trading port, financial centre, beach resort and retail heaven, Hong Kong is a hotchpotch of cultures, architectures and lifestyles and offers an almost endless array of attractions by day and all through the night. Why not visit for Chinese New Year and watch the spectacular fireworks over Victoria Harbour? Hong Kong is extremely well connected, so make the most of the efficient transport system on land and on sea and explore the markets, parks and temples within the city's provinces. Head to the Hong Kong Space Museum, where you'll find an excellent Planetarium, then take a trip to the 10,000 Buddhas Monastery perched atop Po Fook Hill. If you fancy some time away from the madding crowds, go for a hike on Lantau islands or head for the beaches in Sai Kung.

Canton By Water Cruise
Spoil yourselves with a hovercraft ride to Shekou - part of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Then, why not visit the Qin Dynasty Terracotta Warriors and Horses from Xian. Once you arrive in Canton look out for the Guangzhou Zoo, the Six Banyan Temple, Dr Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall and return to Hong Kong by train to make the most of your scenery.
Hong Kong Island Panoramic Orientation
Why not hire a car and drive by Wanchai, (well-known destination for sailors) to reach Victoria Peak for a breath-taking panoramic view of the bustling harbour, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. From Victoria Peak, continue to Aberdeen village to see a multitude of fishing junks and floating restaurants moored there. Pass by the scenic resort areas of Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay and if you have time, visit Hong Kong's largest jewellery factory where artists create prize-winning designs using semi precious stones.
Kowloon and New Territories Sightseeing Extravaganza
Once you've settled into Kowloon, head to Tai Po Market, which is a rural-style market, with a large choice of fresh produce, daily necessities and electronics on display. Why not continue on to Lok Ma Chau, a vantage point where you can look across the Pearl Estuary to glimpse the remarkable skyline. From there, visit the Tsang Tai Uk, (the original settling place of the Tsang Clan), an outstanding example of a fortified village. If time permits, we recommend the Wong Tai Sin Temple, which is the largest and most impressive in Kowloon.
